Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Tuleykan, South Fergana. A.S. Adelung in 1939 (294, p. 23). V.V. Mikhailov

Synonym: Tuleykan Suite, Тулейканская св.


Lithology and Thickness

In the lower part - polymictic conglomerates with layers of gravelites, sandstones, less frequently siltstone (aleurolites), the upper part is a variegated layer of sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), claystones, and clays with layers of conglomerates, gravelites, marls, limestones; at the base of the body are rhyolites and dacites. Thickness 1500-1800m.

Fossils

In the pebbles of limestones - remains of Lower Permian foraminifers, in the sandy layers of the lower part of the suite - plants Phyllotheca sp., Callipteris ex gr. martinsi (Kurtze), Madygenopteris aravanensis Sixt. and others; at the base of the upper part - Sphenobaiera aravanica Sixt., Cordaites tuleikanensis Sixt., Samaropsis tuleikanensis Sixt. and others, dating the Late Permian age of the enclosing rocks.


Age 

Age accepted as Late Permian. In (166), Strat. sl. (439) and on the State Geol. Map-500 of Uzbekistan (460) it is conditionally attributed to the Upper Permian, G.L. Belgovsky et al. (170) - to the lower part of the Upper Permian; A.S. Masumov et al. (291) consider it Early Permian; in the monograph (165) it is attributed to the Upper Permian.
